

Jeffrey M. Sankey
Massachusetts Attorney / Partner at Sankey, Meinelt & Fisher, LLP Attorney Jeffrey Sankey offers more than thirty years of legal experience and practical common sense advice to clients of the firm. Attorney Sankey served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1979 to 1993, followed by service in the Marine Corps Reserves until his retirement in 2005 at the rank of Colonel. Throughout his legal career in the Marine Corps, Attorney Sankey represented hundreds of Marines and sailors charged with criminal offenses in courts-martial across the United States. During his final five years of service, Attorney Sankey was assigned as a Military Trial Judge and Senior Reserve Trial Judge for the Marine Corps. Upon his retirement, he was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Attorney Jeffrey Sankey served on the Mansfield School Committee for nine years where he developed his passion for working on behalf of students and children. Over the past two decades, Attorney Sankey has developed a practice focused on helping children with disabilities navigate the Massachusetts special education system, guiding parents through the IEP process and securing the best services and placements for children. In addition, Attorney Sankey works to help young people who find themselves in trouble, either at school disciplinary hearings or in Juvenile Court. He also represents children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse in school and is an experienced litigator in Title IX cases. Attorney Sankey’s practice is also focused in employment law, where he has represented both employers and employees in state and federal courts and before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination involving claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination and other workplace issues. Attorney Jeffrey Sankey also has substantial experience as a criminal defense counsel, and has represented clients in Juvenile, District and Superior Courts throughout the Commonwealth. She focuses in special education, student discipline, Section 504, Title IX, bullying, policy and handbook development, employment, and all other school law matters. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to work with clients with all different educational concerns. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Katie was a partner at Stoneman, Chandler & Miller in Boston where she represented public schools and charter schools for over six years. Katie was also middle school English teacher before going to law school, so she offers a unique and effective perspective for all of her clients since she has sat on all sides of the table when it comes to education issues. Katie earned her law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English (with an education focus) from the University of New Hampshire. Katie was a cross country, indoor, and outdoor track athlete in college. She has run 16 marathons, including 14 Boston marathons. She is on the board of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s marathon team and actively raises money for Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund. Katie lives in Winchester with her husband, son, and dog.
