Katie Meinelt is an attorney at Sankey Law Offices representing clients in all areas of education law, including students and their families, public schools, and charter schools. She focuses in special education, student discipline, Section 504, bullying, policy and handbook development, employment, and all other school law matters. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to work with clients with all different educational concerns.
Prior to joining Sankey Law Offices in 2018, Katie was a partner at Stoneman, Chandler & Miller in Boston where she represented public schools and charter schools for over six years. Since joining Sankey Law, she has expanded her practice to include the representation of students and their families as well, thus providing a unique and effective perspective for all of her clients. She also assists families in guardianship cases and handles matters in juvenile court, as well as employment cases focusing specifically on school related matters.
Katie earned her law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English (with an education focus) from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to attending law school, Katie was a middle school English teacher, so she has sat on all sides of the table when it comes to education issues.
Katie was a cross country, indoor, and outdoor track athlete in college. She has run 14 marathons, including 12 Boston marathons. She is on the board of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s marathon team and actively raises money for Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund.
Katie lives in Winchester with her husband, son, and dog.
