Katie Meinelt is a partner at Sankey, Meinelt & Fisher, LLP representing public schools, charter schools, and private schools in all areas of Education Law. She focuses in special education, student discipline, Section 504, Title IX, bullying, policy and handbook development, employment, and all other school law matters. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to work with clients with all different educational concerns.
Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Katie was a partner at Stoneman, Chandler & Miller in Boston where she represented public schools and charter schools for over six years. Katie was also middle school English teacher before going to law school, so she offers a unique and effective perspective for all of her clients since she has sat on all sides of the table when it comes to education issues.
Katie earned her law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English (with an education focus) from the University of New Hampshire.
Katie was a cross country, indoor, and outdoor track athlete in college. She has run 16 marathons, including 14 Boston marathons. She is on the board of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s marathon team and actively raises money for Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund.
Katie lives in Winchester with her husband, son, and dog.
